Letter from Principal Martin

 

 Greetings Northeast Families, 

On behalf of the entire staff we would like to say Welcome to Northeast!!! We look forward to welcoming you for the 2024-25 school year! We have been eagerly planning since June, and we are very excited about this upcoming school year.

We really enjoyed the events where families were involved. This year you can look forward to more Family Nights and school presentations. We will also continue with the Principal’s Coffee Hour where parents and guardians are invited to meet with the school principals for good conversation revolving around Northeast interests, over pastries and breakfast drinks. 

Northeast is proud to host a diverse offering of Specials classes. All students will have an opportunity throughout the year to be immersed in Latinx language and culture. In addition, students will have a STEAM special that offers the opportunity for hands-on learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. Finally, students will be given an opportunity to participate in a physical education class that encourages team building, healthy living, and the importance of physical activity. 

Several positive initiatives are going on at Northeast that we will continue this school year, such as Positive Behaviors Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Stars Viking Values, Restorative Circles, Social-Emotional Learning, Refocus Room, the Village Hope Learning Center and Playworks which supports kids staying active and building valuable life skills through play. Students will continue to explore through play, while utilizing conflict management skills incorporating inclusiveness, where everyone is welcomed.

If your student will be a drop-off in the mornings, please make sure to keep students in the car until the doors open. Stay in line and a staff member will direct you to a drop-off location on the sidewalk. Students cannot be dropped off earlier than 8:05 AM. Kindergarten through 2 grade students will report to the cafeteria, and 3rd through 5th grade students will report to the gym. 

Starting August 26th, if your student is going to be picked up, you will need a number to pick up your student from the line. We will have pickup number assignments at the Open House.

Our Open House will be held on Tuesday, August 20th from 5:30-7:00 PM. We will share important information about our upcoming year that will support your child’s success. You will have the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and see their classroom.

A reminder that cell phones and personal communication devices are not allowed at Northeast. Chips and snacks should be limited to individual snack sizes, and are not to be shared for health and safety concerns.
